Equal rights for all regarding marriage. I love that! Is it difficult to understand that this is right on so many levels? Look, no one has the right to say "You can't spend the rest of your life with this person." Unless of course you're a parent saying this to your 13 year old and in that case I'll write you off to Springer or Nanny 911.
San Francisco major Gavin Newsom is clutching to this like a drowning man to a life jacket. Gavin is opportunistic, I mean he's a politician so he has to be and this is a great topic for him to embrace, Never mind the sucky MUNI, or the homeless, or the crumbling Ocean Beach walkway, let's turn all our efforts to something that'll make news, something that'll make the major look good...and this will.
But forget Gavin for a second and let's toast all the couples that will be able to legally unite in love, something they should have been able to do since forever.
Look, take a capitalistic view on this: more weddings mean more stimulus for the local economy, right? More people buying presents, flowers, hiring caterers, photographers, halls, hotels, going on honeymoons, etc...and if you're NOT a Bush fan what better way to spend your IRS stimulus check by supporting, participating or throwing you own big fat gay wedding?
Salud!
